Osama bin Laden was the founder of al-Qaeda, the extremist organization responsible for the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States. Bin Laden orchestrated various acts of terrorism worldwide and was the mastermind behind multiple bombings, including those on U.S. embassies in Africa. He was killed by U.S. forces in Pakistan in 2011.
