John Dillinger was an American bank robber during the Great Depression era. He gained notoriety for a string of daring and successful bank heists, earning him the reputation of a modern-day Robin Hood by some. Dillinger became a public enemy and was pursued by law enforcement. He was eventually shot and killed by FBI agents in 1934 outside a movie theater in Chicago.
